It didn’t take long for the Montreal Canadiens to decide that they needed reinforcements on the blue line.

Immediately after dropping a 4-2 decision to the Ottawa Senators Wednesday the Canadiens recalled defenceman Jarred Tinordi from their AHL affiliate.

Forcing the Habs’ hands in the matter was the possibility of losing two defenceman in Wednesday’s game. Both Alexei Emelin and P.K. Subban missed portions of Montreal’s game against the Sens. Subban, however, was able to return for the third period.

Head coach Michel Therrien was unable to provide any updates on his hobbled defence corps after the game, but with Sergei Gonchar already nursing an injury the club felt it was necessary to make the move for reinforcements.

Tinordi, who turns 21 in two days, has two assists in nine games played so far this season with the Canadiens. He also has one goal, seven points, and has a plus/minus of +8 in 35 games in the AHL.
