The Carolina Hurricanes activated Eddie Lack from injured reserve on Thursday and assigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate with fellow goaltender Michael Leighton.
Lack’s assignment to the Charlotte Checkers will be for a brief conditioning stint as he has missed 26 of the last 30 games due to concussions. Lack is 1-2-1 with a .378 goals-against average in five games this season.
Leighton is 2-2-0 with a 3.43 goals-against average for the Hurricanes this year.
Carolina can afford to send both goalies down to the AHL for the time being as their next game is not until after the All-Star break when it faces the Philadelphia Flyers at home on Feb. 2.
