Micheal Ferland‘s afternoon came to an early end on Saturday.
The Carolina Hurricanes forward was ejected from Game 2 against the Washington Capitals after a hit to the head of Capitals forward Nic Dowd.
Dowd was reaching for the puck as he crossed the Hurricanes blue line off the rush when Ferland caught him up high.
Ferland was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Dowd was pulled from the game for concussion protocol but returned later in the second period.
