The postponed game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Detroit Red Wings on Dec. 19 has been rescheduled for Monday, March 27, 2017.
The game was initially postponed because of poor ice conditions at PNC arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. The problem was caused by a broken compressor in the arena’s ice-making machine.
After originally delaying the start of the game, the decision to postpone had to be made because the Red Wings were scheduled to play in Tampa the following night.
The Hurricanes were already set to host the Red Wings on Mar. 28, so now the two teams will play two games in as many nights in Carolina.
While both teams are sitting outside of playoff spots, the pair of games happen in the waning weeks of the season and could potentially affect post-season aspirations for either club.
