The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Boston College forward David Cotton to a two-year, $1.85-million entry-level contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The Hurricanes also announced that they had signed David’s brother, fellow forward Jason Cotton, to an entry-level deal.
“David and Jason both had very productive senior seasons this year,” said Hurricanes president and general manager
Don Waddell in a press release.
“We’ve been pleased with David’s progress over his four years at Boston College, and his brother Jason was recently named a Hobey Baker Award finalist. We’re excited to see what they can accomplish at the professional level.”
Cotton’s deal will see him paid $700,000 in 2020-21 and $832,500 in 2021-22 at the NHL level and $70,000 in the AHL. The 22-year-old will also receive a $185,000 signing bonus.
Cotton was named a Hockey East Third Team All-Star after collecting 39 points across 32 games during his senior season at Boston College.
The six-foot-four, 197-pound forward was also a Hockey East First Team All-Star last season and notched 127 points in 148 games over his four NCAA seasons.
The native of Parker, Texas, was selected by the Hurricanes in the sixth round (169th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
