The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Jordan Martinook to a two-year, $4-million contract extension Tuesday.

Martinook has 10 goals and three assists in 50 games this season. The Hurricanes acquired him from the Arizona Coyotes last May in exchange for Marcus Kruger and a draft pick. Martinook would have been a restricted free agent this summer.

The 26-year-old was originally a second-round draft pick (58th overall) of the Coyotes in 2012.
