Carolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov exited Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins early with an apparent right leg injury.
Svechnikov’s leg turned in an awkward way while he battled Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara for position in front of the Boston goal during the latter half of the third period.
The 20-year-old Svechnikov held his right knee in pain and play was stopped. He was helped off the ice, unable to put any weight on his right leg.
After registering 24 goals and 61 points in 68 games this season, Svechnikov posted seven points in his first five games inside the Toronto bubble.
Carolina lost to Boston, 3-1, on Saturday and now trail the series two games to one.
