Hurricanes are all-in on a William Nylander pursuit

Ron MacLean, Nick Kypreos, Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston get you caught up with all of the latest news surrounding the NHL on this week's rendition of Saturday Headlines.

The William Nylander saga continues.

As the Dec. 1 deadline for the Toronto Maple Leafs to sign the restricted free agent inches closer, the uncertainty of Nylander’s future in Toronto grows.

If Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas chooses to pursue a trade involving the talented forward there is at least one team ready to get dealing.

“When the time does come — if the time does come that Toronto decides they are going to deal [Nylander] — Carolina has made it very clear that they are all in,” said Elliotte Friedman on the Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday.

The Carolina Hurricanes are off to a promising start to the season with a 6-5-2 record, good enough for fourth in the Metropolitan Division and just three points shy of the leading New York Islanders.

If things do end up going to trade talks the two teams compliment each other, as the Leafs have ample depth at forward, while the Hurricanes sport a deep blue line.

But for now, Nylander watch will continue.
