The New York Islanders have assigned defenceman Bode Wilde to the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit.
Wilde, 20, has spent the season with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers but has only appeared in 20 games.
A second-round pick by the Islanders in 2018, Wilde had 70 points in 62 games with the Spirit last season.
The move gives the Spirit a big boost ahead of the playoffs as the club looks to win its first OHL title since moving to Saginaw in 2002. The club — which also acquired centre Ryan Suzuki in a 10-player blockbuster at the trade deadline — currently leads the West Division with 68 points with over one month remaining in the season.
