Islanders’ Casey Cizikas out 3-4 weeks due to leg laceration

Casey Cizikas leaves the ice in a hurry after appearing to have his leg cut by the skate of Ivan Provorov.

New York Islanders centre Casey Cizikas will miss three to four weeks with a leg laceration and has been placed on injured reserve.

Cizikas left Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first period after colliding with Ivan Provorov along the boards, suffering a cut to his leg during the collision. Play was whistled dead and Cizikas had to be helped off the ice by teammates.

The 28-year-old has 10 goals and four assists in 47 games this season.

In a corresponding move, the Islanders have called up Cole Bardreau from AHL Bridgeport. The 26-year-old has two points in nine games for the Isles so far this season, plus three points in 29 contest for the Sound Tigers.
