Islanders fan’s amazing Nassau Coliseum story

These are truly the last days of Nassau Coliseum.

As tributes and tales of the greatest moments in the history of Nassau Coliseum begin to pour in, at least one fan will always cherish the old barn not just for what happened inside its walls, but in the parking lot as well.

Joy Rosen, an original Islanders season ticket holder, shared one of her fondest Nassau memories during Monday’s MSG broadcast of the Rangers-Islanders game. The year 1982 stands out to most Islanders fans as the year their team swept the Vancouver Canucks for its third consecutive Stanley Cup championship.

For Ms. Rosen, it’s the year her son was conceived in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot.

The Islanders are enjoying a great season and appear to be on their way to one last playoff appearance at Nassau Coliseum before moving to Brooklyn. Could we see a spike in Uniondale birth rates in a year’s time?
