New York Islanders defenceman Adam Pelech is out for the remainder of the regular season with an injury to his Achilles tendon.

Pelech suffered the injury prior to the team’s game on Jan. 2 against the New Jersey Devils. In 38 games this season, the 25-year-old had a goal and eight assists while averaging 21:08 of ice time and leading the team with 83 blocked shots.

The Islanders have recalled defenceman Sebastian Aho from their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Aho has two goals and 20 points in 34 games in the AHL.
