COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have retained defenceman David Savard on emergency recall, 12 hours after sending him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass. He had been called up on Tuesday but did not play.

The Blue Jackets, winners of five in a row, were without defencemen Adrian Aucoin and Nikita Nikitin for all or part of Wednesday night’s 3-2 overtime win at Anaheim.

The 22-year-old Savard is scoreless in three games with Columbus this season. He has five goals and 26 assists in 60 games with Springfield.

He was originally selected by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL draft. He has two goals and eight assists in 34 career NHL games, all with Columbus.
