Jamie Benn wins 2014-15 Art Ross Trophy

Watch as Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn wins the Art Ross Trophy with this second assist on a goal by Cody Eakin.

John Tavares was just seconds away from winning the Art Ross Trophy.

:08.5 seconds, to be exact.

Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn scored three goals and added an assist during the Stars’ 4-1 win over the Predators to emerge as the scoring champion with 87 points on the season (35 G, 52 A).

New York Islanders captain John Tavares notched two points in the Islanders’ loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and it was widely assumed he’d take home the trophy with 86 points.

Benn scored with two minutes to go to tie Tavares in points, but Tavares’ 38 goals would have been the tie-breaker. The assist on Cody Eakin’s goal, which you can see above, was the point that tipped Benn over the edge.

This is the first time Benn, 25, has won the Art Ross Trophy.
