The Winnipeg Jets are to acquire centre Cody Eakin from the Vegas Golden Knights for a conditional 2021 fourth round draft pick, Sportsnet can confirm.

The pick could be made a third rounder should the Jets make the playoffs or re-sign Eakin, who is a pending unrestricted free agent.

Eakin, 28, has four goals and six assists in 41 games this season for the Golden Knights. It’s a sharp downturn from the 22 goals and 19 assists in 78 last year.

He has previously played for the Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals and is a Winnipeg native.
