Jets activate Pavelec off IR, demote Hellebuyck to AHL’s Moose

Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff talks signing defenceman Dustin Byfuglien and the Jets attempted run at the playoffs.

The Winnipeg Jets re-assigned Connor Hellebuyck to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, the team announced Friday.

The talented rookie netminder is 13-11-1 with a 2.34 goals-against average, .918 save percentage and two shutouts. The 22-year-old is on a two-way contract so he did not have to clear waivers.

Hellebuyck’s demotion is a response to Ondrej Pavelec being taken off injured reserve. Pavelec hasn’t played since Nov. 21 after being injured in a game against the Arizona Coyotes. Pavelec went 5-6-1 with a 2.82 GAA and .906 save percentage prior to his injury. Michael Hutchinson is the other Jets goalie on the active roster.
