Jets’ Ehlers, Maple Leafs’ Matthews top NHL three stars

Hockey Central analyst Doug MacLean joins Sportsnet’s Starting Lineup to discuss the defensive struggles of the Bozak, Marner, van Riemsdyk line, and why he feels JVR and Bozak will be trade bait for a defenceman.

Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers and Toronto Maple Leafs centre Auston Matthews have been named the first and second of the NHL’s three stars of the week.

Ehlers led the league with five goals — two of which were game winners — to push the Jets to three consecutive victories.

Matthews scored four times and had two overtime winners as the Leafs went 2-1 on the week.

Washington Capitals centre Nicklas Backstrom was the third star. He led the NHL in scoring during the seven days with nine points in four games.
