Winnipeg Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey will be out until at least early April, according to head coach Paul Maurice.

Morrissey left Sunday night’s loss to the Arizona Coyotes with an upper-body injury after a hit along the boards in the third period.

The loss of the 23-year-old Morrissey is a big blow for the Jets, but Kevin Cheveldayoff added depth to Winnipeg’s blue line ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline in the form of defencemen Nathan Beaulieu and Bogdan Kiselevich.

In 59 games for the Jets this season, Morrissey has six goals and 31 points while averaging 22:24 minutes of ice time per contest.
