Thursday night’s game against the New York Rangers will feature a welcome sight for Winnipeg Jets fans, as Mark Scheifele will be in the lineup after a three-game absence.
Scheifele has been listed as day-to-day since sustaining an injury in a game against the Edmonton Oilers a week ago.
“It sucked. St. Louis I thought I could go, and couldn’t. The next day I thought I could go, and couldn’t. It was just an up in the air thing,” Scheifele told reporters of being sidelined. “So every morning you’re anxious to see how you’re going to feel. It’s definitely tough mentally. Today when I got up and got on the ice I felt fine. I continued to skate and it got better and better. So I’m definitely very happy.”
The speedy centreman is expected to re-join the top line, allowing Blake Wheeler to move back to the wing.
The 23-year-old has been good for a point per game this season, tallying 13 goals and 13 assists for a team-leading 26 points in as many games.
