Winnipeg Jets stars Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine are sitting out Game 2 of the team’s qualifying round series against the Calgary Flames on Monday.

Both players were hurt in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Flames. They were expected to see specialists Sunday, but no further details about their injuries have been released.

Scheifele’s injury occurred in the first period after a collision against the boards with Matthew Tkachuk. The Jets’ star centre was in visible pain immediately and was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the ice.

Laine left mid-way through the third period holding his left hand after a run-in with Flames captain Mark Giordano and winger Sam Bennett. Laine collided with both Giordano and Bennett in quick succession behind the Flames’ net. He finished his shift, was caught on camera speaking to a trainer a and then went back to the Jets’ locker room and didn’t return.
