The Winnipeg Jets will be looking to continue the best playoff run in franchise history with a win on Thursday when they take on the Nashville Predators in Game 7 of their second-round series as +135 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Jets failed to take advantage of home ice and the chance to close out the series in Game 6. Winnipeg fell 4-0 as -153 home chalk in their first shutout loss on home ice since March 2017, sending the series back to Nashville for Thursday night’s decisive Jets versus Predators betting matchup at Bridgestone Arena.
It has been a see-saw battle in the playoff series featuring the two top teams in the NHL this season, with each club posting two road wins thus far. While the Jets have tallied just two total goals in their past two home dates, Winnipeg shooters have averaged 4.66 goals per game over the first three road games in this series.
Consistent success in road dates with Nashville has eluded the Jets since relocating to Winnipeg in 2011, with the club failing to record consecutive wins while going 6-8-2 in 16 meetings, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
But while the Jets’ failure to end the series on home ice sends them back to Nashville as Game 7 betting underdogs, the two clubs sit knotted on the Stanley Cup odds at +500.
Pegged as -155 home favourites for Thursday’s game, the Predators will be aiming to record consecutive wins for the first time since taking the first two games from the Colorado Avalanche in last month’s first-round series.
Nashville has gone 4-5 in nine outings since then, with three of those victories coming by just a single goal including the club’s 5-4 overtime victory in Game 2 as -187 home chalk.
Inconsistency has plagued the Predators since late March, and started with a three-game losing streak that featured a 5-4 loss to Winnipeg as +132 road underdogs on March 25. Nashville has gone 12-10-1 during their shaky stretch, including a 6-5-0 record on home ice.
And the Predators have been equally inconsistent in their two previous Game 7 appearances, going 1-1 in a pair of road contests, but are undefeated in their past three games when poised to win a playoff series on home ice.
