Jets winger Patrik Laine leaves game vs. Kings with lower-body injury

Patrik Laine blocked a shot from Alec Martinez and had to head off to the dressing room after being in clear discomfort.

Winnipeg Jets winger Patrik Laine left Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Kings with a lower-body injury.

Laine kneeled to block a shot from Kings defenceman Alec Martinez in the second period. It made contact with the inside of his left foot and he slowly hobbled off the ice and into the dressing room.

Jets head coach Paul Maurice downplayed the injury following the game.

The 19-year-old Laine entered the day with 43 goals, tying him with Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin for most in the NHL.
