Jimmy Vesey out, Grabner in for Rangers against Jets

Andrew Ladd’s goal was the game-winner as the Islanders doubled up the Rangers 4-2.

The New York Rangers will be without rookie Jimmy Vesey when they visit the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

Vesey was a late scratch with an upper-body injury and it is unclear when he got hurt.

The 23-year-old sits fifth in NHL rookie scoring with 16 points in 27 games this season.

The Rangers will at least get leading scorer Michael Grabner back, as he returns from dealing with a family matter back in Austria.

Grabner leads the team with 13 goals in 26 games this season.

Forward Nicklas Jensen will also crack the Rangers lineup on Thursday, making his debut with the team after being called up from the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old has six points (three goals, three assists) in 24 career NHL games, all with the Vancouver Canucks.
