Jones, Johansen cross paths at airport after trade

Nashville Predators TV analyst Stu Grimson joins HC at Noon to discuss the Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones trade and the reaction from the Predator players.

When it comes to awkward trade stories in NHL history, there’s no shortage of cringe-worthy moments.

From Mike Cammalleri being moved mid-game to former enemies Corey Perry and Stephane Robidas becoming teammates to players taking beloved jersey numbers that have been vacated, trades can make for hurt feelings and limp handshakes.

But perhaps this latest story is of a different sort.

The two stars involved in the blockbuster trade yesterday — Seth Jones and Ryan Johansen — ran into each other in the airport on the way to their respective cities and new clubs. Good thing the two are friends off the ice.

Not only have both players skated with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, they’ll now have shared the same Nashville apartment.

Johansen couldn’t offer up his apartment because he has a roommate and yet he has a backyard like this? Lucky roommate.
