Kadri, Yakupov, Hanzal fined for diving/embellishment

The officials didn't like how Nazem Kadri went down after drawing the ire of the Flames for landing a massive hit on Johnny Gaudreau.

NEW YORK — Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri, Edmonton Oilers forward Nail Yakupov and Arizona Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal were all fined by the NHL on Friday for diving or embellishment in recent games.

Kadri was fined US$3,000 for his third citation of the season in a game against the Calgary Flames on March 21, the league said in a release. He was given a warning for his first citation on Feb. 4 and was fined $2,000 for his second citation on March 12.

It was the second citation for both Yakupov and Hanzal, who were fined $2,000 apiece. The money goes to the players’ emergency assistance fund., who received a $2,000 fine for his second citation which occurred in a March 12 game against the Arizona Coyotes.
