Los Angeles Kings winger Carl Hagelin has been placed on injured reserve for the time being while he deals with an MCL sprain, the club announced Sunday.
Hagelin is considered week-to-week, according to the Kings, and has an MRI scheduled for Monday.
The 30-year-old Swede has suited up for only five games for L.A. this season after joining the club via a mid-November trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins, with whom he won two Stanley Cups over the past three years.
Added to inject some speed into the Kings’ lineup, Hagelin had begun making an impact on the squad, most notably with an impressive play to set up Kings teammate Matt Luff during the club’s most recent tilt against Vancouver.
With Hagelin now sidelined, L.A. has recalled forward Michael Amadio from the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
