The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenceman Derek Forbort to a two-year contract extension worth $5.05 million.
The 25-year-old was a first-round pick of the Kings in 2010, 10th overall, and had two goals and 16 assists in 82 games last season.
Forbort was slated to become a restricted free agent this summer, and his new contract – which carries a $2.525 cap hit – is a significant raise from the $650,000 he’s making in 2017-18.
He has two assists in six games this season.
