Kypreos: Leafs actively shopping all but four

The Toronto Maple Leafs head into the off-season with a long list of needs and a short list of untouchables after falling apart down the stretch.

And with the NHL draft and free agency quickly approaching, GM Dave Nonis has continued to actively explore trades for all players on the roster, with the exception of four.

The Maple Leafs have been linked to several trade rumours in recent weeks, with speculation ramping up after Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon said the team was entertaining offers for the first overall pick.

Kypreos reported in May that the Leafs were shopping captain Dion Phaneuf to a Western Conference team, while centre Nazem Kadri and defenceman Jake Gardiner have been recurring names in the rumour mill. Left winger James van Riemsdyk and the eighth overall pick in June’s draft are also among the best bargaining chips the Leafs have in play.
