Lapierre suspended five games for hit on Boyle

Maxim Lapierre was given a five-game suspension for his hit on Dan Boyle.

Maxim Lapierre has been suspended five games for his hit on San Jose Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle.

The Blues forward was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct after he checked Boyle from behind in the first period of St Louis’ loss to the Sharks on Tuesday night. Boyle was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

According to NHL.com, Lapierre has already served one game of his suspension while waiting for an in-person hearing that took place Friday afternoon.
