Lauri Korpikoski quickly found a new home.

The left-winger signed a one-year, US$1 million contract on Monday morning with the Dallas Stars. Korpikoski was released from a tryout with the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

The 30-year-old spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers where he scored 10 goals and 12 assists in 71 games. The Finland native also had a minus-17 rating.

Stars GM Jim Nill said the signing bolsters the Stars’ depth at forward and says Korpikoski is an experienced, disciplined player who can kill penalties.

Prior to playing in Edmonton, Korpikoski spent six years with the Coyotes organization and one year with the New York Rangers.
