The Toronto Maple Leafs have activated forward Mitch Marner from the injured reserve after being sidelined since early November with a high-ankle sprain, the team announced Wednesday.
In a corresponding move, the Leafs loaned defenceman Martin Marincin and forward Nic Petan to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies
The Leafs host the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
Marner got off to a strong start to the 2019-20 campaign before going down with the injury, notching four goals and 18 points through 18 games.
The 22-year-old was hurt during the team’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Marner fell awkwardly after getting tangled up with the stick of Flyers winger Carsen Twarynski off a draw early.
