Leafs’ Auston Matthews has top-selling jersey in NHL

NHL insider Doug MacLean offers solutions to coaching the struggling Auston Matthews, William Nylander line, but says bottom line is that the Maple Leafs’ blueline just isn’t good enough.

Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid are the consensus picks when debating the NHL’s best player, but Auston Matthews has them beat in one area.

The Toronto Maple Leafs star had the best-selling jersey league-wide in 2017-18, with Crosby and McDavid finishing second and third, respectively. Crosby topped the sales charts last year.

Matthews finished the regular season with 34 goals and 29 assists but was limited to 62 games due to injuries.
