Leafs call up Bibeau on emergency basis, Reimer hurt

Wednesday Night Hockey on Sportsnet features the Penguins and the Maple Leafs at 7pm ET, and Pittsburgh's 'big two' are notorious for carving up Toronto.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Antoine Bibeau on an emergency basis, the team announced Wednesday.

James Reimer was supposed to start Wednesday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but experienced “tightness”, according to Sportsnet’s Christine Simpson.

Jonathan Bernier will get the nod, hoping to better his Tuesday night performance where he gave up six goals in just two periods to the New York Islanders.

Bibeau has never made it into an NHL game. The 21 year-old was drafted by the Leafs 172nd overall in 2013.

In 15 games with the Marlies this season, he’s posted a 10-4-0 record with a .889 save percentage and a 3.20 goal-against average.
