Leafs defender Travis Dermott to make NHL debut on Saturday

Newest Maple Leaf Travis Dermott discusses living out his childhood dream, and getting the call to the big club, says he’s ready to make the best of his opportunity when it comes.

The Toronto Maple Leafs‘ blue line will have a new face in the mix when the club takes on the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, as rookie defenceman Travis Dermott is expected to make his first career NHL appearance during the tilt.

Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Dermott is in the midst of a solid campaign for the Leafs’ AHL affiliate, having posted 17 points in 26 games for the Marlies.

He posted 24 points through 59 games with the Marlies last season after a three-year stint with the OHL’s Erie Otters.
