Leafs’ Josh Leivo leaves game with upper-body injury

Watch as Connor McDavid scores a nice goal by zipping around Jonathan Bernier to get his Oilers ahead 1-0 on the Maple Leafs.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Josh Leivo has left Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers with an upper-body injury and will not return.

In the first period, Leivo scored his second goal in two games to even the score at 1-1, but the 22-year-old did not come out for the second.

The Leafs were already without forwards Tyler Bozak, Joffrey Lupul, Nazem Kadri, James van Riemsdyk, Shawn Matthias and the recently acquired Milan Michalek.

This was just the sixth game of the season with the Leafs for Leivo, who was called up from the Toronto Marlies on Monday.
