Maple Leafs’ Kessel dealing with multiple injuries

Damien Cox and Elliotte Friedman breaks down the news that is making the rounds in the NHL, including the fact that Phil Kessel may not be battling one injury, but several.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel is playing through multiple injuries, according to Sportsnet’s Damien Cox.

It remains unclear what specifically is hurting Kessel, but Cox speculated that it could be his back and/or his hand.

Kessel’s health is enough of an issue that some within the Leafs’ organization have discussed whether the forward needs more off-days to heal, which may not appeal to coach Randy Carlyle.

Despite the injuries, Kessel has still been able to produce. Before Saturday’s game, the sniper had recorded four points (two goals and two assists) in his past three games.
