Leafs sign forward Garrett Wilson to one-year contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Garrett Wilson to a one-year contract worth $725,000, the team announced on Wednesday.

Wilson, 28, spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, recording two goals and eight points in 50 games. The Barrie, Ont., native also suited up for 18 contests in the AHL for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

A fourth-round draft pick (107th overall) in 2009 by the Florida Panthers, Wilson has played in 84 NHL regular-season games with the Panthers and Penguins. He’s also skated in 10 NHL playoff contests.
