Leaf games streamed on Sportsnet.ca

Toronto Maple Leafs fans can now take it to the Net — the Internet — with Leafs TV Interactive. In partnership with Rogers Sportsnet, fans can subscribe to stream 50 regular-season Leaf games on their computer at www.mapleleafs.com and www.sportsnet.ca.

The Leafs game against the New York Islanders on tonight (Thursday, October 11) will be the first streamed game on Leafs TV Interactive (Leafs broadcast territory only). Fans now have the flexibility to watch their favourite team where and when they want.

Leafs TV Interactive combines 20 Leafs TV, 20 Rogers Sportsnet regional and 10 TSN broadcasts, and provides the ultimate game experience for sports enthusiasts. The initial webcasts will include access to live statistics with future options including alternative camera angles and opportunities to chat with other online Leafs fans during game streaming.

“We recognize that the younger Leafs fans want to absorb sports in different ways and at their convenience,” said Chris Hebb, senior vice-president of broadcast and content for Leafs TV. “It’s important that our broadcasts evolve with technology and we create products that complement our conventional televised games for a different demographic.”

Hebb added that the Leafs are excited about the extended partnership with Rogers Sportsnet that will bring the Leafs broadcasts and content to more fans.

“This is a natural extension of our role as the Official Broadcaster of the Leafs,” said Doug Beeforth, president of Rogers Sportsnet. “And it’s consistent with our promise to Leafs fans that Sportsnet will provide the most complete and comprehensive coverage of their team.”

Thousands of Leafs fans registered and enjoyed a free preview of Leafs TV interactive in September with all eight Leafs preseason games accessible through the Internet.

All Leafs TV Interactive games will only be available in the Leafs broadcast territory. Leafs TV subscribers can take advantage of Leafs TV Interactive for only $39.95 plus applicable taxes. Until October 18, Leafs fans without Leafs TV can subscribe for $59.95 plus applicable taxes. After October 18, the subscription price will be $69.95.
