Leafs’ Nylander sets franchise rookie record with 10-game point streak

Toronto Maple Leafs rookie William Nylander has set a franchise record by recording a point in 10 straight games with an assist on Thursday.

Nylander helped set up Josh Leivo’s goal at 5:46 of the first period against the New Jersey Devils to surpass a record originally set by Gus Bodnar in the 1943-44 season.

Bob Nevin (1960-61) and Dan Daoust (1982-83) also had nine-game point streaks as Leafs rookies.

The assist also gave Nylander a $212,500 bonus. He scored later in the first period.

The 20-year-old hasn’t been held off the scoresheet since March 2 against the Los Angeles Kings.

He has four goals and eight assists since.
