Should Stempniak be suspended for dangerous hit on Flyers’ MacDonald?

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Andrew MacDonald has to be checked out after taking a hard hit by Carolina Hurricanes forward Lee Stempniak.

Lee Stempniak might be receiving a call from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety after the Carolina Hurricanes forward laid out Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Andrew MacDonald with a high hit.

Midway through the second period of Tuesday’s game, Stempniak caught MacDonald with his head down along the glass. MacDonald fell to the ice and remained there for several moments before being assisted off the ice. He went to the Philadelphia locker room where he underwent concussion protocol before eventually returning to the game.

Stempniak was assessed a two-minute boarding minor for the hit.
