Lightning forward Thompson faces hearing

Tampa Bay Lightning centre Nate Thompson has a disciplinary hearing with the NHL on Saturday for his hit on New Jersey Devils forward Matt D’Agostini during Friday night’s game.

At 11:13 of the second period, Thompson made contact with the head of D’Agostini at centre ice. There was no penalty called on the play.

The Lightning beat the Devils 5-4 in a shootout, with the 28-year-old Thompson notching a goal in the second period for Tampa Bay, tying the game at two.
