Lightning re-sign defenceman Jan Rutta to one-year contract

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenceman Jan Rutta to a one-year contract.

It is a one-way contract worth $1.3 million, the team announced Friday.

Rutta suited up for 14 games with the Lightning after being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in January.

He registered two assists in the regular season and another two assists in the team’s brief four-game playoff run.

The 28-year-old Pisek, Czech Republic native also spent 18 games with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.
