Leafs’ Lupul day-to-day with bruised foot

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul has a bruised foot after blocking a shot during Thursday’s practice.

Lupul will be joining the Leafs on the trip to Columbus but his status for Friday’s game against the Blue Jackets remains unclear.

The Leafs also recalled forward Josh Leivo from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League AHL in case Lupul has to miss time with the foot injury.

Before Lupul left the ice, the Leafs were playing the 30-year-old at right wing on the second line alongside Nazem Kadri and Jay McClement.

In 10 games this season, Lupul has registered six goals, four assists, and seven penalty minutes.

In other news, forwards Nikolai Kulemin and Frazier McLaren took part in practice on Thursday. It’s unclear if they will play against the Blue Jackets on Friday night.

The Leafs have a 7-3-0 record to start the 2013-14 season.
