The Toronto Maple Leafs will have a new face behind the bench when they host the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
According to Sportsnet’s John Shannon, Steve Staios, the Maple Leafs Player Development Advisor, will join assistants Steve Spott and Peter Horachek on the bench for the game at the Air Canada Centre.
Staios played 18 seasons in the NHL and was hired by the Maple Leafs following his retirement in 2012.
Wednesday’s tilt marks the first game for the team after head coach Randy Carlyle was fired on Tuesday.
