Maple Leafs’ Hyman to have hearing for hit on McAvoy

Zach Hyman lays a questionable hit on Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk takes exception.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman will have a hearing Sunday for his hit on Boston Bruins defenceman Charlie McAvoy.

The incident occurred in the third period of Toronto’s loss to Boston Saturday when Hyman delivered a late hit on McAvoy. Hyman was assessed a five-minute interference penalty on the play, then dropped the gloves with Bruins defenceman Matt Grzelcyk.

Toronto was trailing 6-2 at the time of the hit.

McAvoy has missed 20 games so far this season due to a concussion.
