Maple Leafs’ John Tavares will not return from finger injury vs. Flyers

John Tavares spoke about sitting out another game but said he understands the importance of being patient when recovering from injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will not have their captain back in the lineup when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

John Tavares will remain out of the lineup as he continues to recover from a broken finger. He did travel with the team to Philadelphia, prompting some to speculate he could return.

The Maple Leafs are 2-2-2 without Tavares in the lineup. The 29-year-old had seven points in eight games before his injury.
