The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed defenceman Alexey Marchenko on waivers, according to the player’s agent.

The Maple Leafs originally claimed Marchenko off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings in February, reuniting the blueliner with coach Mike Babcock.

However, the 25-year-old seldom played, appearing in just 11 games and no post-season contests. He had one goal and one assist with the Leafs.

Marchenko has four goals and 21 points in 121 NHL games with Toronto and Detroit.
