Maple Leafs sign defenceman Kral to three-year entry-level contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenceman Filip Kral to a three-year entry level contract Wednesday.

The 20-year-old appeared in 54 games with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs during the 2019-20 season and registered 12 goals and 37 assists. Internationally, he represented the Czech Republic at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2018 and 2019.

Kral was selected by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
