The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Russian forward Nikita Soshnikov to a three-year deal, general manager Dave Nonis announced Friday via an official team release.
The 21-year-old played 57 games with Moscow Oblast Atlant of the Kontinental Hockey League this season, scoring 14 goals and totaling 32 points. All 14 of Soshnikov’s goals were scored in even-strength situations.
Soshnikov had the third-highest point total in the KHL among players under the age of 23, the Maple Leafs noted in their release.
Toronto visits the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.
