The Toronto Maple Leafs signed collegiate free agent forward Spencer Abbott to a one-year entry level contract on Wednesday.
Abbott has just finished his college career at the University of Maine where he was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the top player in the NCAA.
The 23-year old led the NCAA in scoring with 62 points in 39 games played for the Black Bears.
The forward is a native of Hamilton, ON and will join the Toronto Marlies for the rest of the AHL regular season and Calder Cup playoffs.
